Fairytale Revision- Desert Grey and the Seven Gentle Giants

Desert Grey and the Seven Gentle Giants
Once upon a time, in a land where greed, jealousy and envy prevailed, lived a handsome businessman and his beautiful trophy wife. There was also a stepson, whom no one really noticed as he was from a previous marriage of the newly wed trophy wife.

In the big city of Manhattan, looks were very important to the handsome businessman so he asked his mirror every morning if he was the most handsome in all the city and the mirror always replied: “You are the most handsome in all the city”. The mirror said this every morning, up until Desert Grey turned 21, he had blossomed into a beautiful young man and the mirror could not deny this fact. One morning, after Desert Grey’s 21th birthday, the handsome businessman asked his mirror if he was the most handsome in all the city and the mirror replied: “No longer are you the most handsome, Desert Grey has exceeded your beauty”.

Appalled at the statement of the mirror, he wanted Desert Grey gone from the city immediately. He hired a hitman to take out Desert Grey using any means possible. The hitman came and took Desert Grey into The Bronx where he knew he wouldn’t fair well with the class of people living there, he just knew they would eat him alive.

Once in this new city, Desert Grey had no idea to get himself home, he had never been away from the city cabs and did not understand the subway. He ran into a group of beautiful women that took Desert Grey under their wing and would keep him safe. The seven women Desert Grey was saved by ended up being Drag Queens that performed for a club and agreed Desert Grey could stay there if he kept their make-up, wigs, and gowns in order. He agreed as these were the gentlest giants he had ever met. Desert Grey lived above the club and kept the drag queens stuff in order.

Once the handsome businessman knew his stepson was long gone, he went to his mirror happy as can be, knowing he was now the most handsome in all the city. The business man walked up to his mirror and asked the same question he always asked, “Am I the most handsome in all of the city?” The mirror replied: “You are the most handsome in Manhattan but Desert Grey is the most handsome in all the city”. Shocked, the handsome businessman wanted Desert Grey gone for good so he took matters into his own hands. He concocted a serum to kill Desert Grey and injected into a pizza. He sent the pizza delivery guy to the club where Desert Grey was living and had it delivered to him.

Desert Grey received the Pizza and thought it was from the Seven Drags so ate it very quickly. He quickly regretted its funny taste and fell to the ground. The Seven drags showed up later that night to prepare for their show and found Desert Grey on the floor instead. They called 911 and performed CPR but to no avail. They did not want to lose Desert Grey so they placed him in a glass coffin for his beauty to be seen by all.

Meanwhile, back in Manhattan, the handsome business man wanted to see if his evil plan had worked so he went to his mirror and asked if he was the most handsome in all the city? The mirror replied: “Yes, you are the most handsome in all the city”. The handsome businessman was pleased with the answer and would continue to ask daily.
Desert Grey’s body was a new fixture of the club and everyone grew to love seeing his beauty when walking in. One day, a beautiful man walked in and became infatuated with Desert Grey’s beauty and could not live without him. He told the seven drags he would take care of Desert Grey’s body and worship it as if he were a living and breathing young man again.

In preparation to have Desert Grey’s glass coffin moved, the men moving it tripped on the stage and the piece of pizza lodged in Desert Grey’s throat became loose and he came back to life.

The seven drags were so illuminated that their dear Desert Grey was back and so was the beautiful man, he could now properly ask Desert Grey out for drinks in hopes of beginning a lasting relationship. Everyone was happy.

Well, not everyone.

The handsome businessman awoke the next morning and went to his mirror expecting the same answer he always got, but to his surprise, the mirror replied: “Desert Grey is the most handsome in all the city.” Shocked by this statement, he knew he had lost and would finally give up and let Desert Grey take his place as the most handsome man in the city; he was defeated.

The theme of jealousy, greed and envy are evident in the story of Desert Grey and the Seven Gentle Giants and goes on to prove that love always wins.
