I've learned a lot about Fairytales this quarter, more than I ever thought possible! I, like many others, thought that fairytales are for children to learn morals and life lessons or just a fun tale that has been told by adults to children for fun. I was completely shocked to see the whole wide world of fairytales and the many different adaptations and variations of all fairytales.
When I first read the syllabus and saw that works such as Cinderella and Snow White were on the agenda for the quarter I immediately knew I would love the course. I have to admit, I was thinking along the lines of Disney versions of Cinderella and Snow White but was quite surprised to find out all the older and classic versions of the two. I also enjoyed reading the adaptations of those two modern fairy tales.
I enjoyed the challenges in this course when we were asked to re-write a fairytale to deviate from the norm, it really made me look at the fairytale and dissect it to create something with a similar theme yet a unique take on the tale. I also enjoyed creating the Prezi presentation, it made me research the fairytale and in doing that, understand it on a deeper level.
I loved this course and all the discussions we had as a class, it was nice to see how all of our opinions differed from one another and we were able to bounce ideas off of one another.
I hope everyone has a great summer and I hope to see some of you in future courses!
